About Pho Papa
Located off of Maes Ave in Kimberly, Pho Papa breathes new life to the former Hong Kong Buffet. Having opened in June 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pho Papa was open for To-Go orders only. They recently opened their dining room (with limited seating capacity) in March of this year. Despite the difficulties of running a restaurant during a global pandemic, Pho Papa has built a loyal following and continues to impress with their cuisine. Their menu consists of traditional vitemanese favorites such a fresh salad (or spring rolls), lemongrass beef, and of course, pho. They also have an assortment of bubble teas available for you boba fans out there.
Pho Fanatics
As the name would suggest, Pho Papa does pho, and they do it well. After a quick look at the menu, I settled on the Special Pho. The pho came out quickly and was nice and hot, the perfect food for a rainy day. It came complete with all the fixings, a lime wedge, some basil leaves and bean sprouts. The table also had toppings to tweak the broth flavor and spice, including garlic chili sauce, hoisin sauce, and sriracha. The broth was delicious and flavorful, the perfect blend of spices. The bowl was also packed to the brim with noodles, beef, flank, tendon, tripe and meatballs.

Side Selections
Pho Papa has a wide variety of side selections including egg rolls, potstickers, and crab cheese wontons. I decided to give the fresh salad rolls a try, and it was quickly clear I made the correct pick. They come stuffed with your choice of shrimp, chicken, pork, or tofu and veggies. I of course picked shrimp and quite enjoyed the homemade peanut sauce that came with it.
As previously mentioned, Pho Papa has a large selection of boba teas. Unfortunately, they are suffering from the nationwide tapioca pearl shortage, so at the time of my visit, they were unable to give me any boba pearls. They are still serving all the teas and flavors but without the boba. I went with the classic Thai Iced Tea and it was delightfully refreshing.
All That and a Bowl of Pho
Overall, I really enjoyed Pho Papa. The inside of the restaurant is clean and well maintained. They are continuing to practice social distancing measures by blocking off every other table. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I definitely plan on returning to Pho Papa and it needs to be added to the list of every pho lover in the Valley!
