Community Spotlight: Rodney’s Cafe in Oshkosh

Community Spotlight: Rodney’s Cafe in Oshkosh

Like many in the Oshkosh community, I was affected by the pandemic. It’s the reason why my finance and I moved to Oshkosh in the first place. I know that others affected by the pandemic have not been as lucky, and I’m proud to help out however I can. This month,...

Exploring Lao Culture with Basil Café

Exploring Lao Culture with Basil Café

On a cold Saturday night in February, I ventured out to get some takeout from one of my favorite dine in restaurants in Appleton. Now, the aesthetics of a trip to Basil Café is definitely one of my favorite parts. It is like an international night out without even...

Extremely Good Flavors at The Shop Bar and Grille

Extremely Good Flavors at The Shop Bar and Grille

Half Restaurant, Fully Delicious“Hurt” by Nine Inch Nails (or Johnny Cash, if you prefer) runs through my head as I sit down to write this blog post. The line “I hurt myself today” sticks out in particular. Because, I did in fact, hurt myself when I realized how long...

WeatherVane, What’s Not to Like?

WeatherVane, What’s Not to Like?

WeatherVane, what’s not to like? The Fox Cities really has a variety of places you can get delicious brunch. Recently I went to Weathervane in downtown Menasha. Growing up in Menasha, I never really took the time to explore my city until a few years ago. I honestly...

I Knead to Tell you About Thunderbird Bakery in Oshkosh

I Knead to Tell you About Thunderbird Bakery in Oshkosh

Since relocating to Oshkosh, my fiance and I have done a good job of finding our new go-to's for things like groceries, pizza, burgers, etc. However, we had yet to find a good bakery in town. That is until we stumbled upon Thunderbird Bakery in Oshkosh. I knew about...

Tucked away by the Fox River, Tempest Coffee Collective has a relaxing atmosphere. Inside you will find artwork on the walls and plants scattered around to create the perfect Instagram post aesthetic. During the warmer months, the patio is open so you can enjoy the fresh air while munching on your food.

I have been coming to Tempest for a few years now and this has easily become one of my favorite coffee shops to work from. All the staff is friendly and easy to talk to. They keep the space lively with Indie music often playing in the background.

Near the register, there is often a variety of pastries from Thunderbird Bakery to choose from with unique flavors. One of my favorites is the Earl Grey Scone. Some menu recommendations I have are the Lox & Rye which is Violet Rye, house-cured salmon, soft boiled egg, mustard-dill sauce and shaved red onion or the Dixie Dawn which is a buttermilk waffle sandwich with a fried egg, bacon and aged white cheddar. To see their full menu, click here

Tempest’s coffee is sourced from Washington-based Olympia Coffee Roasting Co., which is a certified B Corporation company. Try the Lavender Honey Latte or the Lava Salt Latte if you want to add a little sweetness to your day. The pour-overs are always my go-to item on the coffee menu.
