Community Spotlight: Rodney’s Cafe in Oshkosh

Like many in the Oshkosh community, I was affected by the pandemic. It’s the reason why my finance and I moved to Oshkosh in the first place. I know that others affected by the pandemic have not been as lucky, and I’m proud to help out however I can. This month,...

Extremely Good Flavors at The Shop Bar and Grille

Half Restaurant, Fully Delicious“Hurt” by Nine Inch Nails (or Johnny Cash, if you prefer) runs through my head as I sit down to write this blog post. The line “I hurt myself today” sticks out in particular. Because, I did in fact, hurt myself when I realized how long...

I Knead to Tell you About Thunderbird Bakery in Oshkosh

Since relocating to Oshkosh, my fiance and I have done a good job of finding our new go-to's for things like groceries, pizza, burgers, etc. However, we had yet to find a good bakery in town. That is until we stumbled upon Thunderbird Bakery in Oshkosh. I knew about...

WeatherVane, what’s not to like?

The Fox Cities really has a variety of places you can get delicious brunch. Recently I went to Weathervane in downtown Menasha. Growing up in Menasha, I never really took the time to explore my city until a few years ago. I honestly cannot remember the first time I went. But it has quickly become a family favorite.

This last trip included mimosas, cinnamon rolls, and omelettes. I love mimosas, and WeatherVane has them for only $3.50! That is how I started my meal, in their spacious waiting room with a bar. They also do have Bloody Mary’s, if you’re into that (I’m not). For a Sunday morning, we only had to wait for about 20 minutes.

Oogey, gooey, cinnamon rolls

Once seated, I immediately ordered a cinnamon roll. It was quickly brought out and the cinnamon roll was warm, gooey, and delicious. The icing wasn’t overly sweet, since it tasted like a cream cheese frosting. I just can’t believe that this was the first time I had ever tried their cinnamon rolls!

1 Omelette please

One dilemma I always have when going out for brunch is “Should I get something sweet or savory?” but since I ordered the cinnamon roll, I opted for something savory. I was really in the mood for hash browns so I ordered the forecaster’s pride omelette. It came with hash browns not only as a side, but the omelette WAS STUFFED WITH HASH BROWNS. Yes you read that right, STUFFED with hash browns! It also included ham, onion, green pepper, and of course cheese. You can choose toast, or pancakes as a side. So for only $10 you are getting A TON of food. I had definitely had leftovers.

Overall they have something for everyone. I’m glad I drifted from my usual order of the stuffed French toast, and tried something new. They even serve lunch after 10 am if breakfast food isn’t your style. Burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, you name it. I personally have not tried the lunch items, but that’s just another reason to go again!
